Hexipuff Madness Monday - Week 2

My total for this week is 3, making the grand total 6. This week, I have been consumed with reading The Hunger Games. I started on Sunday night and was able to finish it on Friday morning. I saw the movie on Saturday. In my opinion, my imagination painted a more gory picture of the attacks than the movie did. But, I guess that had to be done to keep it within ratings standards. Please forgive me. My mind has been tainted with Spartacus as of late, so my imagination is a bit more brutal than my demure outward appearance begs you to believe. Oh well! I guess that's what Hollywood cinematography does to you. I also started the second book of the trilogy, Catching Fire. I have read the first two sections in 1 day. I just can't put it down.

So, I am really trying to strike a balance between reading, knitting time and catching up on movies and TV shows. One of my amazing knitting friends invited me to a Game of Thrones viewing party this coming Sunday. So, that means I have to watch all of season 1 by then. I intend to continue knitting on my Ella Coat while I watch. It's been in time out way too long. I have been working many overtime hours over the past month. My apologies to my blog friends who have been looking forward to juicy knitting content. No worries. There shall be more in the forthcoming months.

Here is a shot of my meager contribution to this blanket.

Hexipuff Madness Monday - Issue 1

Welcome to my Hexipuff madness. I have embarked on this journey to make the Beekeeper's Quilt for my full sized bed. Here is my progress for the week.

I made 3 hexipuffs. I am getting a bit more comfortable with the pattern and getting used to DPN's again. I put some body butter on my hands, massaged them into my needles, and it was smooth sailing from there. I averaged 2 hexipuffs per hour while watching Project Runway. I love creating something while I watch other people create garments.
I am still trying to figure out how much stuffing to use for each Hexipuff. I realize that my first one looks a little scrawny. I think I like the super-puffy lofty look.

So without further adieu, here are my 3 little puffy squishy friends.

My first hexipuff!

Knitting for me is all about seemingly unattainable challenges. However, I know that I am a great knitter, so the only thing that will stop me from finishing a project is simply me not wanting to do it anymore.

I decided to cast on for the Beekeeper's Quilt by Tiny Owls. This project is a major stashbuster when you use ends of random sock yarn. However, there is nothing random about me. I think in colors and patterns. I have decided that the colors chosen for this project will be pink, grey, blue, green, violet, and lavender. I created a color scheme using Adobe Illustrator so that I can figure out how many hexipuffs of each color is needed for my full sized bed. Ummmmmmmm a thousand sounds just about right based on my rough calculations. I will have to properly measure my finished hexipuff to be entirely sure.

I am using Knitpicks Stroll Tonal in Summer Blooms. Of course it's pink. I am knitting on size 4 Knitpicks wooden needles. I may try metal because it was a bit "sticky". But let me warm the needles up before I toss them aside. Hexipuff #2 might go a little smoother if I lotion my hands a bit. Lol! It can't hurt right?

I plan to add Hexipuff Madness Mondays as an element to this blog, so that I can regularly keep track of what's going on. Until then, here is a picture of my proposed design, my hexipuff unstuffed on the needles, and my first ever completed hexipuff.

Shhhhhh!

I have been knitting, but it's a surprise for one of my Knitty friends. Here is a sneak peak. I have 10 more days to complete it. It's part Cashmere and part silky wool. I know I'm going to want to keep it when it's all said and done. Why do I do this to myself?
